Description

"Take a tour of Mt. Doomspire," they said. "It'll be fun," they said. And now you're stranded in an active volcano. _____________________________________________ CREDITS Menu theme - Volcano Overworld 8-BIT by Loeder (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eM2mQ7h2jI) In-game theme - Volcano by MayleMusic (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcde6A0BFn4) SFX - All from scratch library, heavily modified. Everything else by me. _____________________________________________ AUTHOR'S NOTE This was, surprisingly, not as difficult as I thought it would be to make. Around 95% of my video game concepts don't make the cut, and around 60% of the ones I actually start developing survive for around 3 days before getting tossed in the garbage bin. There are three things that are responsible for most of these unfinished projects, or as I call them, "The Development Barriers." Motivation is my #1 obstacle when making a game (or any other project, for that matter) and I tend to lose a lot of it fast each time development becomes boring or unproductive. Stress is the second highest reason I will stop making a game. I often submit my games into contests (like this one) and the due date always freaks me out if it's in less than a month. The final barrier is when the project has too many glitches and is pretty much beyond fixing. I wish I could upload many of my unshared games, but a lot of nearly finished ones fall for this trap. Obviously, while making ESCAPE!, I did not come across any of these. I believe it to be a simple matter of luck, as my motivation levels stayed pretty much the same throughout development and no game-ruining glitches appeared. And of course, I have to thank @SlordWasTaken for the very lenient due date. It passed all three barriers, and it was shared, which is why you're reading this now. Well, that's it for my ramblings. Have a good day. Thanks for playing! _____________________________________________
