She is a Rito, and lives in their village in the snowy Hebra mountains. It has been many years since the Calamity was defeated, and Hyrule is finally settling into an era of peace. Though it has been over a hundred years since the Champions first took control of their Divine Beasts, their stories have been passed down through the generations of Rito. Aella, a Rito skilled at archery, and especially flying, always looked up to Revali, the most skilled archer of all the Rito, and his power of Revali's Gale. Dreaming of matching or surpassing Revali's skill, Aella practiced to perfect the art of creating an updraft that allows her to soar. After a long time of practicing, Aella has finally mastered the power of Revali's Gale, allowing her to soar higher than ever before.
