I’d been in some mighty storms in my life, if you know what I mean. Or, you can say I’ve walked down the deepest valley or wandered through the darkest night in the desert. I don’t know if you can relate, but these times in my life, I wonder one thing… Where is God to save me? When will He save me? While He will save you, maybe that’s not what you should ask. Maybe you should ask something like: where is your FOCUS? Where is your faith? What are you sacrificing for? What we focus on expands. While we go through these ‘deserts’ in our lives, maybe we shouldn’t mope around and wait for God, maybe we should step out into the wilderness. Maybe we should take a leap of faith. Maybe, we shouldn’t wait for God, rather, maybe God is waiting for us. He may be waiting for you to let Him work in your life, for you to open your heart and let Him in. To let Him in, we must surrender. Here are 3 big examples: Surrender our thoughts. When we desire to do think about sin, we must turn our focus back to Him. Surrender our actions. When we want to do evil and desire it, we must turn our focus back to Him. Surrender our time. The only way to kill evil is by doing this. What we focus on expands, so if we FOCUS on God, we will allow more of God into our lives… which means that evil won’t have much more room. Don’t ask “When will God save me?” Ask the three biggest questions… “What am I sacrificing for?” “What am I putting my faith in?” “What’s my focus on?” When you answer these questions, you will see what your heart truly desires. What does our heart wicked desire? “When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, (being intoxicated), wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:19-21) When we ask those 3 questions, we can see that our heart probably does desire these things, even if you follow Christ. But when we ask them, we can see our need for Christ. And Jesus told us in Matthew 5 “Blessed are those who are poor and realize their need for Him, for they will inherit the kingdom of God.” When we see that we need Jesus, we can ask Him to come and change us, and we do this by doing what I said earlier, surrendering time, thoughts and actions. So, ask these questions to yourself daily… What do I put my faith in? What am I sacrificing for? Where is my FOCUS?
