Description: Scratch Cat RPG: Legend of the 10K Followers (or simply Scratch Cat RPG) is a turn-based, open-world Scratch RPG with multiple types of enemies, each with their own HP and attack strength. If experiencing a low frame rate, please consider playing this game on Turbowarp: https://turbowarp.org/714317926?fps=35&interpolate Controls: Use the arrow keys/WASD to move. Press space while near an NPC to talk to them (and to continue or end dialogue), or while near a staircase to enter/exit a dungeon. There will be random encounters with slimes/puppets (in the overworld) or dragons (in dungeons), and these 3 types of enemies each have their own attack strength and maximum HP: slimes are the weakest of the 3, with only 50 HP and an attack strength from 4 to 6, puppets are in the middle, with 80 HP and an attack strength from 8-14, and dragons are the strongest, with 250 HP and an attack strength from 20-50. During a battle, when it is the player's turn, click/tap the "Attack" button to attack the enemy, the "Flee" button to flee (run away) from the enemy, the "Use Item" button to use 1 of the apples from your inventory to heal (but only when you have at least 1 apple in your inventory), or the "Auto Fight" button to make the computer handle the player's actions in battle.
NOTE: This project is primarily made for my Hackingtons Scratch purple belt, and is designed as a step up from their Scratch adventure game. UPDATE v1.1: Added bouncing animation to slime sprite UPDADE v1.1.1: Fixed bug with entering dungeon from the overworld where it wouldn't work unless the actual Scratch Cat sprite (and not the hitbox) was touching the entrance UPDATE v2.0: Added apple items, which are randomly found, and can be used to heal yourself by clicking or tapping the "Use Item" button during a battle, but only when you have at least 1 apple in your inventory. Experience points (XP) and levels have also been added. You can have up to 10 levels, after which you will no longer get rewards after winning a battle. When you get rewards after a battle, you will typically earn 50 XP, and when it reaches 100 XP, you level up, your maximum health increases by 50, and you earn 5 attack (Atk) points, which increase your attack power. UPDATE v2.0.1: Bug fix with victory sign UPDATE v2.1: Apples now always restore 50 HP, rather than restoring a random amount of health UPDATE v2.2: Increased dragons' max health to 250 and increased their attack strength UPDATE v2.3: Improved height and spacing of the action buttons during battles UPDATE v2.3.1: Fixed bug with button spacing UPDATE v2.4: Added Def (defense) stat to Scratch Cat; when you level up, it now increments by 5 along with the Atk (attack) stat, and post-victory XP increment has now been reduced to 25 UPDATE v2.4.1: Set range for enemy damage UPDATE v2.5: Post-victory XP increment has been further decreased to 5, the level-up HP increment has been decreased to 5, Atk increment has been increased to 15, and Def increment has been slightly increased to 7 UPDATE v2.6: Added auto fight option to battle menu; when clicked, it makes the player automatically battle UPDATE v2.6.1: Fixed major auto fight bug in which the buttons wouldn't hide and auto fighting wouldn't begin when the auto fight button was clicked UPDATE v2.7: NPCs and dialogue have been added UPDATE v2.8: Added the shop and gold, and apples are no longer randomly found; instead, they now must be purchased from the in-game shop using the gold you have in-game. Apples cost 5 gold each. UPDATE v2.8.1: Fixed bug with dialogue for Pico (the game's shopkeeper) UPDATE v2.8.2: Fixed more dialogue bugs UPDATE v2.8.3: Fixed bug where gold count would not increase after winning a battle UPDATE v2.8.4: Fixed text rendering for lowercase "e" UPDATE v2.9: Changed dialogue sound UPDATE v2.10: Changed dialogue speed UPDATE v2.11: Added Nano NPC (he asks you if you know about the shop and tells you where it is if you choose "No"), overhauled thumbnail, and added character names to text boxes UPDATE v2.11.1: Fixed bug with dialogue for Nano Big thanks to @shinkansen, they provided me with the inspiration for this game and many of the assets (mostly the sound effects and background music (except for the "Lose" song and "Crunch" sound effect (played when the "Use Item" button is selected without having any items in the inventory), which are from the Scratch library), but also the sword sprite that Scratch Cat holds in his paw (yes, paw; he is a cat) during battles). The explosion sprite and "BOOM" voice line are from @Proudjazz. The puppet sprite is from Kirby Super Star (the original SNES/Super Famicom version, not the "Ultra" version for the DS). The overworld/dungeon bounds sprite is from @warfame. Thanks to @griffpatch for the health bar tutorial. The dungeon backdrop image is an edited version of the "Wall1" backdrop from the Scratch Library. Thanks to the Scratch Wiki for the turn-based RPG tutorial. The title is inspired by the Mario RPG, whose full title is "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars." Of course, I replaced "Super Mario" with "Scratch Cat" and "Seven Stars" with "10K Followers" in order to make it more Scratch-y ;). Of course, thanks to the Scratch library for the Scratch Cat sprite. The dragon sprite is also from the Scratch library. The music is from Final Fantasy X, Chrono Cross, and Fire Emblem. The thumbnail text is from cooltext.com. Everything else is by me (@SMB_Fan2010).
