Instructions

++ Do any traits your beast have serve a purpose in evolution? ++ - Over the years, their claws have gotten bigger, to aid in their borrowing habits. - Their tail fins didnt always used to exist. As they started to swim more and more, eating less prey on land, they developed, to assist in their swimming. ++ Does your beast have subspecies with different traits? ++ - There are river-based species that are just called Dirt-Diggers. They look basically the same, except for their size, which is substantially smaller. They also have whiskers (like a catfish) to help them navigate in the murky fresh-water rivers. ++ What does your beast eat? ++ Mainly fish! Their strong claws have been known to break open coconuts though, and they aren't opposed to eating bananas or other larger fruits. ++ What are your beast’s natural predators if any? ++ Like most water animals, they are under threat from sharks and larger fish. On land, however, they are under constant threat from birds of prey. Their biggest threats are dogs and cats, particularly stray ones. They ravage their dens, eat their eggs and young, and hunt them for sport. Humans are also a big threat. They hunt them for their feathers and horns, as well as pollute their environment and constantly build on it, forcing their habitat to shrink. ++ Where does your beast fit in the food chain? ++ I would say about secondary consumer! Definitely not the top, but not the bottom either. ++ What kind of habitat does your beast live in? ++ The salt-water (Sand-Diggers) live mostly near or on the beach. They try and make their nests under tree/bush roots as it helps support the sand they burrow in. Fresh-water (Dirt-Diggers) live near or on riverbanks, burrowing in the soft dirt and loam. They too like to make homes under tree/bush roots. Some have been seen climbing sea cliffs and burrowing in the rocks there, but it is quite uncommon and hasnt been investigated much. ++ How does your beast care for the sickly, elderly or young? ++ - Sickly: They will bring them food, and water but currently have no knowledge of medicinal herbs (like our friendly battle cat friends) Basically they either wait until they die, or get better. With wounds they just hope they dont get infected. Some Diggers that live near human settlements have been seen bringing their injured to humans in hopes for help. However, it is quite new and there isnt a lot known about it. - Elderly: The same with the sickly, if the elderly can live on their own, they will. Most often their flock members will bring them food and water if the Digger cant find enough. (This applies to any group of Diggers, if one cant find enough food, others will pitch in to help them) If they are to weak to even leave their dens, a digger pair will take them in to care for them. - Young: Their young are care fore exclusivley by the parents until they are 2 months old. They stay in the den for 1 month, they can explore. After that 2 month mark, the young Digger is free to explore and other Diggers will keep an eye on them. The chick still relies on the parents for food (but will start hunting at around 4-5 months of age) ++. Are your beasts group creatures or solitary? ++ They are group creatures! They live in flocks of up to 25 Diggers. They can be solitary if they so wish, but will not be granted the safety of a Flock. If a lone Digger runs into a Flock, they will not be seen as a threat. Until you start harming thoes of the Flock (Taking food, starting fights, being hostile in any way) you are not a threat. Flocks are often open to any Diggers that want to join, and will often "adopt" Digger parent(s) with chicks. Flocks are formed if a Digger (of any gender) wants to leave. After they get a mate more Diggers will usually come to live near them and interact with them daily. This keeps happening until a flock is formed. Most often, it is Digger Pairs looking to settle that join or create flocks. In rare occasions, lone Diggers will join or create a flock, but it is very rare for this to happen. ++ Are there any special cultures/rituals that your beast has/performs? ++ When a Digger wants to be mates with another, they often hunt as many fish for their desired partner as they can. Sometimes, starving themselves to win the others attention. Sometimes, they also just bring them little trinkets found on the beaches) ++ Guide for rarities: Green: Common Yellow: Uncommon Red: Rare Pink: Epic Purple: Super Everyone gets unlimited common and 2 uncommons.
