WOH, the wings of fire fanfic story is finally here! Character visuals are in the project! Prologue part 1: Frey looked at Edith, concerned. Edith had told him that the queen of the hive had found out about their forbidden relationship. Edith held her egg and dragonet tightly, wrapping her intricate wings around them. Frey’s scales turned purple with worry. “What do we do?” He asked. Edith paused. “You’ll have to leave. Take the dragonets to the rainforest. You’ll be safe there.” Tears shone in her bright blue eyes. She handed the egg to Frey and gestured to the young dragon to follow her father. Nectar didn’t know what was happening. Her parents were on the edge of tears. She wondered why. She rarely saw her dad, shouldn’t this be another happy visit? With dinner and gifts and hugs? Nectar reluctantly walked to her father’s side. “Edith…” Frey said, his scaled turning blue. Nectar knew this meant sadness. Her scales turned as well. “Dad” she said “what’s going on?” “Don’t worry” Frey replied. It wasn’t a real answer, but Nectar knew that she wasn’t going to get any truth out of him. “Go with your father” Edith said through her tears. “But mom” Nectar poked Edith’s golden scales “what about you?” “I can’t leave now, dear” she gestured to her wing bands. “Besides, the hive needs me” she smiled sadly. Edith embraced her daughter in a tight hug. Then she and Frey hugged as well, the egg sandwiched between them. She kissed him goodbye, and kissed Nectar on the head. She lowered her ears and antennae sadly. Then Frey picked up Nectar in one strong arm, and the egg in the other. They slipped through the secret gap in the hive wall and Frey spread his wings. He took off into the sky. Nectar looked back at the hive. She couldn’t see her mother anymore; she wondered if she’d ever see her again.
