"049 Nightshade, District 8!" ------------------------- 049 walked up to the stage, feeling very nervous. /Pleasepleasepleaseletthisnotgohorriblywrong/ He said repeatedly in his mind. He squeezed his eyes shut when he pushed through the curtains, and when he opened them there was... a ball pit? There was nobody else around on stage to give him directions, so he started walking towards it, and soon arrived at the rim. He looked at the huge crowd before him and was suddenly seized with stage fright. He took a few deep breaths and looked at a sign in front of the pit. "Fish out a ball and answer the question inside." Okay then. He leaped in the pit, bracing himself, and landed directly on top of a group of azure balls. He picked one out, waded out of the pit, fixed his now crooked hat, and drew one of his claws along the ball. It popped, spraying blue plastic over the stage. 049 unraveled a piece of paper inside. He read it aloud. "Why do you always wear a mask?" The slip said. The crowd started looking at him intently. He decided to answer honestly. "I have a scar, right here." He drew a line over one of his eyes with a paw. "I wear this mask to cover it." A couple of the cats winced sympathetically. /Good. I'm getting their attention./ He fished out another ball, a red one this time. He squeezed the ball between his paws, and it popped. "Why are you wearing a card in your hat?" He carefully pulled the playing card out of his hat. "This? Oh, it's part of my outfit. And it's also me." He said, chuckling quietly at his little joke at the end. The crowd joined him. /They know one side of it, but not the other./ He slipped the card back into his hat, the dove in again. This time, he swam a little deeper, and pulled out a yellow ball. Opening it, he read, "What's your favorite animal? Mine's a giraffe." He laughed out loud at this one. A child must've written it. "My favorite animal's an axolotl. Even though I haven't seen one in real life, I've seen pictures. They are /so/ cute." He said, smiling. "Giraffes are also cool, though." He added. He could tell the cats in the crowd were starting to like him. Time to win them over with one last question. Diving even deeper this time, he came out with a shining, iridescent white ball. He cracked it open like he would an egg. "Tell us a joke!" the slip inside said. He smiled. He thought for a second, then asked, "Why should you never play card games with wild cats?" The crowd thought for a second, then said, "Why?" 049 replied, "They're a bunch of lion cheetahs." The crowd roared with laughter, sounding like a bunch of lions and cheetahs themselves. After they stopped, he said, "Thank you everyone and have a great day!" He smiled again, and exited the stage, glowing. -------------------------- Credits: Character - 049 Nightshade For THGRP Music - Undertale OST #55 - Toby Fox (Can you really call this a hotel?
