——————— Zirxes waits. Sitting on a lush floating island, with only a few trees and some rocks for sitting. Waiting was all he did, all he had to do. Zirxes many eyes watched the mortals lives go by. Not even a second for him. He watched them come and go. Nothing special ever arose. Every few generations though, a life would flash golden to him. And quietly, Zirxes would pause his work to watch that life go past. A minute in his mind. That was all it took. Then, he would go back to watching. Back to waiting. When Zirxes was just a few hundred years old, and mortals were just created. He would sit on his island and watch eagerly each life. Back then he never had to wait. Back then, he could stop for an hour and still be able to catch up. There weren’t quite as many mortals then. As time went on, they grew. No more did the god have time to watch closely. No longer did he have the time. Now Zirxes just watches. He watches tragedy, romance, love and war. He watches empires rise and fall. Leaders, take their kingdoms and run them into the ground. He watches the slow destruction of the earth. He waits. Now, he waits for mortals to bring and end to themselves. It will happen, in a few years for him. Zirxes waits for the mortals to bring ruin and terror upon themselves. It’s an inevitable fate, no matter how hard some may try to stop it. He knows, when they do destroy themselves, he has another decade to himself before he continues his work. The only redeeming quality of mortals, Zirxes figures, is their ability to bounce back from the dead. It’s quite amusing. He has watched it happen hundreds of time. Bringing their own demise only to recover a while later. But for now, he waits. And waiting is all he can do.
