over the recent month or two, i've valued that i've been able to be rather positive compared to my past accounts and projects on this site. however, there are always some things i simply cannot ignore as i feel very strongly about the subject. in other words, let's talk about discrimination. i am privileged to be sent to a good Catholic school which usually teaches me good morals. yet although the curriculum is fair, the students/people ive been exposed to have made me realize that certain 'types' of people exist. the type a majority of society would consider to be bad. 75% of my classmates have had little exposure to people of different cultures, races, ethnicities, identities and beliefs. so when i have to hear people making a laughing joke out of mental and physical disorders, races, sexuality and gender identities, it makes me triggered. recently it's gotten worse, and all i can do at the moment is make something clear to my small online following. if you are one of the few who make fun of those with disabilities, a race varying from your own, the opposite gender, people out of the gender spectrum, etc, please refrain from interacting with me as a whole. i'm aware it's a miniature amount, but still. i know this whole thing is probably very common in some areas, yet i still wont risk anything as i am sick and tired of dealing with it. call me out if i'm overreacting, but this stuff is a large trigger for me and i desired to express it.
there are lots of great resources out there to help with understanding. i myself am watching the movie Lorenzo's Oil (which spurred the whole anger in me seeing the blatant disregard in my peers that things like ALD exist out there.) i highly recommend looking into/researching things that you are unsure about that could possibly offend someone in the future.
