Description

1. Concept art page. These aliens have a mutualistic symbiotic relationship with plants. 2. Sunflower alien. Her flowers are growing from battle scars. She lost an eye, so a flower now grows from her eye socket. She does not trust humans, since the first ones who came to her planet tried to wipe out her tribe. I need name ideas. 3. Sakura alien. The trees growing on her back are supposed to look like wings. She is very kind and trusting. She would be a diplomat in the event of a second human expedition to her planet. I also need name ideas for her. 4. I can't remember what tree his antlers are. He's the sunflower alien's cousin, but is more like a protective big brother. He likes to explain why she's so harsh and grumpy, despite having such cheerful flowers. I also need name ideas for him. 5. Lily-of-the-Valley alien. She's very shy and graceful. She is a healer for her tribe. Also need name ideas for her. 6. Tiger shark mermaid!! Her name is Queen Maji. Yes, she has a fan coral growing from her back. I know coral isn't a plant, but there are very few underwater plants and I was not feeling inspired by kelp (actually, I might draw a mermaid with kelp hair idk), so this is what I came up with. My dad pointed out she's not very hydrodynamic though. XD Some ideas I've developed for this alien species: Hibernation So, Oxalis plants go through periods of dormancy where their leaves die off. They will stay this way for about a month. So I was thinking, aliens with plants that do this will hibernate. Their toes will grow abnormally long, and they will dig them into the soil. Their plant's roots will grow through their toes and take the nutrients the alien and plant need to live. Death So since the aliens and plants will have a very unique biochemistry, when they die, a certain moss or fungus will gain the very specific nutrients it needs from the blood and decomposing cells of the aliens and their symbiont plants. These moss/fungus species only grow on the dead aliens or over their graves and are the aliens' version of gravestones. Sickness Mistletoes and strangler figs are parasites to the aliens, since they will take over their symbiont plants, equivalent to a tick on a human. (Sorry for the blank spots on the portraits. That's where my signature was, and I don't feel comfortable sharing my name.) Oh, the song is Firefly by Delirium
