Space John was built in 1886 by the Hunslet Locomotive Works for a small railway in South Wales hauling passengers , slate and goods. He is a kind and intelligent engine like a mentor to others and he has a lot of tales to tell and enjoys a good joke. Then his line closed in 1923 because of the Great Depression he was sold to a factory where he worked to 1950 where he was put in storage and was purchased by a small group of volunteers and after 1/2 a year of work he was operable again he ran on a few different railways but in 1954 the Joon Riverside Railway offered him a home and he was repainted and added some plaques to him and he was renumbered 11 and now runs tourist trains
