hello there, SWCers and anyone else dropping by! we have a very exciting announcement to make <3 The other hosts and I have decided to test out a new committee: a session-in-review project modeled after a magazine. If you’re confused or curious, just sit tight, scroll down, and check out the information below! we also want to let you know that we're still working on a name! if you have suggestions, just drop them in the comments and we'll take a look <3 1. What is this? This is the first run of a SWC (Scratch Writing Camp) magazine. A small committee of leaders will be working on putting it together throughout the upcoming July session, using contributions from participants to create a final project shared after the results. If it goes well, we’ll continue to use it in future sessions! For more information on SWC itself, you can take a look at the FAQ: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/534559459/ 2. How is this different from the memory book? While the memory book shows cabins and results and is about the session, this is more about the community. We want it to document the participants and the way they felt about the month - in addition to the things that make the session unique that may not be showcased in the memory book. It also allows campers to contribute their own work! 3. What can I contribute? Anyone participating in the session (co/leaders too!) will be able to submit an article on a SWC-related topic to be included! We also hope to feature art or song parodies that are based on SWC. As it's difficult to predict how many entries we'll get, we can't promise that everything will make it into the final project. 4. How can I contribute? At some point during camp, we'll share a project where you can link your submissions - which should be in a discussion forum or a project! More instructions will be included there. 5. What else will it have? In addition to the articles submitted, we plan to have some core articles that will most likely be assigned to leaders on the team. Ideas aren't completely concrete yet - but we're hoping to include things like short cabin storyline descriptions, an overall session review, favorite memories from participants, and some more! 6. Can I help with designing? If you’re a camper or non-participant: unfortunately, the answer is no! Designing will be up to the committee, which will be made up of leaders. Don’t worry about missing out on this part, though - there will be minimal design included and we want to focus on the writing aspect of it. 7. When will it be shared? The final project will be shared a few days after the session is over. This means that it will probably come before the results! If you have further questions we'll be happy to answer them! Ideas are included in that - we'd appreciate suggestions :) Just leave a comment and I or someone else will make sure to get back to you <3
