This song is based on the moment when Sophie from KOTLC looks in the mirror at her home after recovering from the shadowflux. Her exact words after seeing herself was, “She was a little pale. A little haggard. A little scrawnier than she had been. And her injured arm definitely showed signs that she was still healing: fading bruises and darker blue veins, and the way it didn’t hang as straight as her other arm. There were also a few thin white lines along her right hand’s knuckles, and she had a feeling they wouldn’t be going away. “But they didn’t break me,” she said out loud as she stepped under the colorful streams and let the hot water rinse away the grime and tangles. Showering had always been a way to center herself. A way to regroup and start again. “They didn’t break me,” she said again. “They’ll never break me.” She wasn’t the weak, predictable girl the Neverseen thought she was. She was Sophie Foster. She was the moonlark. And starting tomorrow, she was learning to fight back.” This moment just inspired me to make a song. And hey who knows, maybe they’ll include this in the KOTLC movie. Never know. Anyways enjoy my song! Lyrics: You may have thought you defeated me, Forced me to hide in a hole. All the time I have wasted recovering, You’ve been planning to takes us down whole The girl I see in this mirror isn’t weak, And you certainly haven’t won. This battle may have given you a victory, But the war has just begun. But I will never be gone. ‘Cause I’m the moonlark, And I’m comin’ back, And there’s nothin’ you can do to stop me. ‘Cause I’m the moonlark, And I’m fightin’ back, And you can’t stop the pain. ‘Cause I’m the moonlark, And I’m climbin’ back, Over any mountain you put in my way. ‘Cause I’m the moonlark, And I’m flyin’ back, Even though you thought you had burnt my wings. You may have thought you made me weak, You made me smaller. The truth is you did quite the opposite, You made me stronger. I will use my strengths, I will use my friends. And we will all sure, That we put this to an end. And you will never win, ‘Cause I’m the moonlark, And I’m comin’ back, And there’s nothin’ you can do to stop me. Tough times call for difficult measures, And therefore I must learn how to fight. So I will train and train and train and train and train, Until I can set this all right. Sure the monster is always clawing at me, Forcing me to second-guess my choices. But I will defeat it, I will block out it’s voices. And you will never defeat me, ‘Cause I’m the moonlark, And I’m comin’ back, And there’s nothin’ you can do to stop me. Even though you thought you had burnt my wings.
