Instructions

this project was made in the offline editor. An evil kumquat is a fictional creature said to eat forum signatures, but it's actually a joke started by Scratch Team member @cheddargirl during the Scratch 2.0 Beta, when she discovered that the image host that held her signature, Imgur, is no longer supported. Instead of rebuilding her old signature, she changed her signature to: "Sadly, my signature was eaten by an evil kumquat." In real life, kumquats are a fruit in the orange family native to China; today, they are grown worldwide. The kumquat trend has also moved out of the Scratch Forums and into the Scratch website, most commonly into studios. Some Scratchers have created joke accounts about evil kumquats, like @EvilKumquat or @imanevilkumquat or something similar. The accounts may also say: "I ate cheddargirl's siggy" or something similar. Some even post on the forums with their accounts or 'communicate' with other kumquat accounts. Some users reversed the trend, and said that their signature ate an evil kumquat or said they were protected by a kumquat guard. Some Scratchers make scripts about kumquats or getting rid of them in their forum signatures using scratchblocks BBCode, such as: Translate it to Scratchblocks here: scratchblocks.github.io when gf clicked forever if <evil kumquat is near?::sensing> then destroy that evil kumquat::custom end end Some Scratchers also create "kumquat guards" with scratchblocks, usually in the form of reporter blocks with faces made from characters: Translate it to Scratchblocks here: scratchblocks.github.io (⌐■_■::operators) // this is a kumquat guard.
