Good morning everyone, and I'm sorry to post something so upsetting, but it needs to be said. Also, trigger warning for you feeble luvs, but please, listen and read all the way down. LQBTQ+ MEMBERS AND ALLIES- For those of you who haven't heard, I want you all to know about something called, "LGBTQ+ Panic Defense" (This can also be known as "Gay Panic Defense" or "Transgender Panic Defense"). This is a term that basically means someone can harm or kill a member of the LQBTQ+ community and defend themselves in court by saying they were startled or shocked by their victim's sexuality or gender identity. They can say this caused their violent behavior. There is about a 70% chance that the defendant (the person who committed the crime for those who don't religiously watch Judge Judy <3) could leave the court with no charges and no jail time. By fully or partially acquitting the perpetrators of crimes against LGBTQ+ victims, this defense implies that LGBTQ+ lives are worth less than others. So let me just pause and say, excuse me, what? So you're telling me that I should be afraid of living because I could get hurt and I would never get justice because I'm different? I will stand against this in any way I can, for the victims of this heinous law. For the beautiful people who no longer can. I am no longer afraid of what might become of me if it means that my kids and my friend's kids and the next generation can live their lives happily. Please, if you want to stand with me against this stupid and immature law and defense, let me know. All of you wonderful people who are perfectly different, I want you to know that no matter what they say and no matter what happens, I love you all. So much. You helped me become who I am today, We'll rise up. Unafraid. Strong. Proud. A WORD TO HOMOPHOBES, TRANSPHOBES, AND ANYONE ELSE WHO DISRESPESCTS THE COMMUNITY- So, why is it that we have to be afraid? Why is it that we can't be happy? Safe. Proud. Is it because you aren't getting attention anymore or something? Oh, wait, my bad. You're getting plenty of attention by killing my family. The LGBTQ+ community is where I belong with people who love and support me. Your response is to kill them because they make me feel safe? Wow. Real mature, right? Yep, violence is the solution to all of your homophobic problems. SO WHAT NOW? I want to start a Scratch movement. It sounds dumb I know but if we can get the assistance of the Scratch team, we might be able to take this somewhere. So please, if you are supporting this, let me know a little about you in the comments below. Also, Allies are more than welcome on this list as well as members <33 I love you all, stay safe!! -Chai #FightingTheLGBTQ+PanicDefense
