basically a british tv au At the same time as the ITV system, the newly formed Albion Broadcasting Association was hard at work forming a similar network to combat it. This would come to be known as the Albion Network, announced in November 1954, and with contract bidding commencing shortly afterwards. First to begin broadcasting was the Midlands' contractor, Heartland Television, launching on the 21st of March, 1957, from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter. Very soon, Heartland became rather popular, partially due to its minimalistic presentation style.
