This project creates realistic flames by cloning a single flame sprite multiple times and adding a variety of effects and transformations. I've adapted the code into a custom block which you can use to modify the size and thickness of the flames. The smoke effect is borrowed from an earlier Chromeworks tutorial.
Check out our YouTube tutorial to find out how this project was made. Check out the Chromeworks Technology YouTube channel for more awesome coding tutorials and our weekly coding and technology show, which airs Saturdays at 10 am Eastern. Chromeworks is a teacher-led, non-profit initiative aimed at transforming children from passive consumers of technology into active creators. Our camps, in-school workshops and YouTube content harness kids' natural love of video games and challenge learners to make ever more complex projects that inspire growth and learning.
