NOTE: I tried to make this game as historically accurate as humanly possible, but since I am a youngling with meager knowledge of WW2, there may be a few inaccuracies with it. Just notify me in the comments, and I'll try to fix them. ENTER THE SPITFIRE You watch from your cockpit canopy as the squadrons of Bf-109s converge on your poor allies by dive bombing them in Italy. As hard as it is to watch, the Crown didn't enlist you to watch in sorrow as the Nazis threaten Europe. So, you smirk, throttle up, and put your finger on the trigger, and look at the picture of your wonderful spouse on last time as your Spitfire Mk.9 roars across the airfield into the sky. FUN FACTs: -The fastest a Spitfire variant flew was 424 mph, achieved by the Mk.24 variant. The one featured in this game is a Mk.9, which could barely reach a top speed of 404 mph. -The enemy planes were Nazi Bf-109s, the anti-semitic German cousin to the Spitfire. However, the Bf-109 was better than the Spitfire in a few ways, like how it can fly faster at high altitudes and could carry more weapons. -The war this is set in, WW2, was one of the most terrible wars of the 2nd millennium. It killed as many people between 40,000,000 to 50,000,000 people, and left many cities in ruin, not to mention Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the very end of it. -The Mk.5 Spitfire had clipped wings, which basically meant that the wings were cut abruptly shorter. Although it wasn't as effective at high altitudes, it was very successful in low-altitude performance. They also did it to enhance the roll rate, i.e making the plane able to spin faster. To play, just use your mouse to move, and press SPACE (or tap for mobile users) to shoot. The Bf-109s are supposed to take one shot to kill, but sometimes you have to shoot them multiple times to kill, or are even invincible at times. I'll try to fix that bug soon. You have 4 lives, and once you are gone, the game stops. Press the green flag to play again. I used this website for reference: http://spitfiresite.com This took me a while to make (somewhere in the ballpark of a few weeks), so if you could give a love and favorite, then that would be greatly appreciated! You don't have to if you don't want to though. Changelog: -v.1|| 5/2/22: Just in time for Scratch's birthday, I published it! -v.2 || 6/14/22: I added a score counter so you can post your score, and since your score showed in the death screen, I modified it as such. I also added a small wait between being able to shoot when you start because when you start you automatically shoot for some reason. It wasn't a bug, but something worth fixing. -v.3 || 6/26/22: I noticed that if there are any Bf-109 bullets still active when you die, they still show in the death screen. But the code to delete the bullet upon the death screen wasn't working, so I found a sneaky fix. I just told the bullets to basically turn black when the death screen shows up. I also added a fun fact too.
