NOTE: THIS SECTION TAKES PLACE SHORTLY AFTER MEERKAT IS BANISHED FROM BEING A SOLDIER IN EKALA’S ARMY IN THE ‘My story’ MINI-STORY “Hey Meerkat!” Indigo called. “You want to hunt with me?” Sharpening her claws on a large stone. “You go ahead, I’ll catch up.” He replied with a yawn. It was early in the morning, prime weather for hunting caribou. The big ball of fluff was always a late sleeper, and Indigo admired him for that, because once he manages to get out of bed, Meerkat is the perfect hunting companion. “Love you,” she called, padding into the trees. “Love you too,” a voice replied behind her. Indigo searched for footprints and scents, sniffing the ground while her sharp eyes scanned the drying forest floor. ‘I cant wait for tomorrow,’ She thought excitedly, ‘marriage between leader and deputy will hold the resistance together for sure.’ The group had been quarrelling amongst themselves for what seemed like years. With the ceremony taking place, peace was bound to return to the resistance. Even Violet was excited. “Hey, wait up,” a voice panted behind her. Indigo turned, her heart always warmed whenever she was near her mate-to-be. “You took your time,” she laughed, rubbing her cheek against Meerkat’s. “Just like with proposing!” Indigo saw his fur beginning to rise. “Well…. Here’s the thing…” “What is it?” Indigo asked, taking a step away from him. “I… cant… be with you anymore,” he whispered, his head drooping. “I am… in love with another wolf.” Indigo stopped, her eyes widening. “I—I thought I was the only one you loved,” tears filled her eyes. “You lied to me!” “I met him while I was in the army, I swear it!” He exclaimed. “You are the most beautiful she-wolf that i have ever met, but I cant be with you!” “Why?” Indigo wailed, her tears streaming. “We’re getting married tomorrow, peace within the resistance relies on this!” “Because I. Am. GAY.” He howled. “That’s why! Ive never loved she-wolves, and I never will!” In the midst of her tears, Indigo felt a presence behind her, egging her on. Suddenly, her paws flashed out, beyond her control, reopening the scar across Meerkat’s muzzle, making him howl with surprised pain. He bolted into the bushes, blood splattering into the soil. “What have I done?” She whispered to herself, her paws frozen to the earth. “Nothing… everything is going according to how the stars intend…” the breeze responded near her ear as the presence behind her vanished like smoke.
This was the vote winner!!!!! I might end up doing the Indigo meme eventually though. XD Also a filler, I guess. I’m working on the next chapter, I swear it. No. Joke.
