☆ Click/tap the flag, sit back, and enjoy! ☆ ========== Entry 1: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/662405393/ While planning my entry for the nudibranch, I thought about making an animation meme/AMV as a part of it. I eventually stumbled upon the song "By Design" by WRLD, and dang, it was an absolute banger to listen to! /gen /lh I would’ve made this longer, but school got in the way of production and thus, I had to rush this animation and shorten it twice. Pretty much explains why this was posted on the DTA batch's due date. I dunno if it'll count. Anyway, lemme explain what is going on in the video: Courtney - the nudibranch character I'm entering for - is a young adult who is autistic and selectively mute. Throughout his entire life, they have struggled to speak to and socialize with most people, and they also have sensory overloads especially in chaotic environments such as a busy urban area. Although he has improved over time through therapy, support, and growing up, he still prefers to spend most of his time in the suburban area because it greatly reduces the chance of him getting overstimulated. They find the most comfort by just being alone in his bedroom, where he spends time lying in bed while playing with their game console or fidget toys. Unfortunately, they have barely made friends over time due to his struggles. One day, Courtney spent what was initially a normal day in their bedroom until out of the blue, two mysterious yet friendly people, Adenja (the cube lady) and Veroxis (the cyborg mouse), entered inside by means of a portal. Overcome with his inability to talk to strangers, Courtney panicked at the sudden appearance of those two people, but it took some gentle encouragement from them to calm him down. Adenja and Veroxis had known about Courtney's struggle to communicate and adapt to unfamiliar environments, so they arrived at his house to take him on a wacky journey to help him open up and relieve some of his issues. Although Courtney was reluctant to join because of the crazy places he was about to be exposed to, he went with them anyway because he was convinced that the adventure would help him. Please note that Adenja and Veroxis are NOT trying to magically cure or wipe away symptoms of Courtney's autism & selective mutism; they are just trying to improve his conditions a little. Yes, I said a LITTLE. After the adventure, he'll still have struggles, but they will feel somewhat more confident with the people and the world around them. /srs /gen /nm Why did I make the nudibranch character autistic in my entry? It's because I personally have autism (specifically, I have Asperger's because my symptoms are more mild) and I agree that there should be more realistic autistic representation in characters. If I ever win the character (hopefully), then I'll try my best to portray their condition in a realistic, non-ableist way! Forgot to mention that Adenja and Veroxis are two new OCs that I made to participate in Courtney's story! If I don't win the nudibranch character, then I'll just associate Adenja and Veroxis with my other OCs. /srs /gen I hope y'all enjoy this! <3
