Mim. That was it. A name? A place? Maybe a fellow soonseer, or a thenseer, or even a nowseer? But that was all Qua could remember from the vision. Mim on Alto Atelier, Voltabell Street. Muttering incoherently, the soonseer stumbled around his swamp hut, hearing voices and the crackle of flame. He found a book, flipped madly to an empty page, and wrote in increasingly messy script- Lis, if you're reading this. Find Mim. Alto Atelier, Voltabell. Qua hid the book in a place nobody but Lis could ever find and closed his eyes. The roof was on fire now. The village people would burn the hut to the ground. They would be merciless. The roof fell in. Qua screamed what would sound like just a shriek of terror to the village folk, but was a call to his familiar. A robin-girl. Lis. Qua was gone. One of the last soonseers, and one of the best, had moved on. Lis found the book. Of course she did. She knew all Qua's hiding places. "Alto Atelier. Voltabell Street." She whispered this under her breath as she flew for the only city that welcomed all species. Seers, bird-folk, and humans all congregated safely in its streets. A small girl - a human? a seer? definitely not a bird-girl, anyway - was sitting in an alley, crying. Nobody saw her. Nobody even looked down the alley. That was Mim. Always alone. And nobody found her. Except for Lis.
all by me you can steal this concept, idrc, just please add credit! glossary: a soonseer sees the future, a thenseer sees the past and a nowseer sees the present. the nowseers, sadly, are dying out quickly. bird-folk are half-birds, half humans. ex: Lis is a robin-girl, half robin and half human girl.
