haikaiu's mother was killed by hunters when only the first of her cubs was born. but the pack left her to die in the forest, because her father was reminded of her mother too much, he cried every time she looked at her. but to everyone's surprise,she survived. the pack named her haikaiu, which means "survivor" in ancient wolvian. when her father died, they offered her a place in the pack, but she refused. but stranger packs, who do not know her tale, hear her lonely calls at night, crying for her lost parents. they fear her, thinking she is a spirit that didn't make it to the stars. she has always longed for cubs of her own, but all the male wolves are afraid of her for her power to summon blinding light when she is angry. when she was newborn, she sneezed, and accidentally blinded her mother in this way. but she can also make a soft glow from her chest to light the way in caves, a lot like that of fireflies. when the moon is full, she can often be seen howling on top of the highest mountain, a warm glow radiating from her chest, as she pays her respect to the fallen, knowing that one day, she too will join them in the swathe of stars that glitters above. but she does not fear death. all she knows is that, someday, all the wolves she has ever known will rise to meet it someday. and even now she says her silent farewells. for she is waiting. waiting to walk the skies with those she loved. but she is learning, slowly, what good things life holds, and even now, she is beginning to see more of the pack that left her to die. she is making friends, and enemies too, bu.t now she knows what life holds, and she is slowly stepping out to greet the good things in life. as everyone should. but as the days go by, more and more is seen of the sky-coloured loner as she creeps closer and closer to those that misunderstood her, trying desparately to gain the most important thing in life- friendship she is quite a small wolf, at 18 moons old, and she can often be found lurking in the bushes and shadows at night waiting for foolish prey to stray too close...
