Soooo... I have some thing to say about "Karens". If you don't know what a "Karen" is, BBC states an overview in an article about the origins of the meme: "Karen" has, in recent years, become a widespread meme referencing a specific type of middle-class white woman, who exhibits behaviours that stem from privilege. To give some examples, "Karen" is associated with the kind of person who demands to "speak to the manager" in order to belittle service industry workers, is anti-vaccination, and carries out racist micro-aggressions, such as asking to touch black people's hair." Now, more recently, there is the "Coronavirus Karen". BBC states "This particular form of Karen refuses to wear a face covering in shops, won't stick to quarantine, and thinks the whole pandemic thing is overblown." My grandmother is named Karen, and, for the lack of a better term, this "meme" negatively effects her, and other literal Karens. FYI, my grandmother Karen and the other women named Karen that I know have taken reasonable precautions for COVID-19 and my grandmother has worn masks specifically for the protection my siblings and I as we returned to in-person school. I get frustrated when famous people like courtreezy and Sssniperwolf post youtube videos like "There's a Karen epidemic *they're at an all time low*" or "Karens who got OWNED". These videos make an aggressive atmosphere for people who are actually named Karen. So please, just stop, or find a different way to do what you do. Thank you.
This is my opinion, I don't expect you to agree. I just had to do something about the negative stereotype of Karens and how it effects people actually named Karen. This isn't for views, but please read it anyway.
