Yes, this is the oobleck I made. Not too amazing-looking lol. It actually worked, though! Sorry I couldn’t take a photo of it in my hands I didn’t want them in the picture and I couldn’t keep the substance in my hands anyway.
About oobleck: The name for oobleck was made by Dr. Seuss (pronounced soyce). Oobleck is a mixture of corn starch and water and can be a liquid and a solid. Substances that can be in more than one state of matter are called non-Newtonian liquid. Non-Newtonian fluids contradict Newton’s viscosity laws. The first viscosity law states, “shear stress is directly proportional to velocity gradient”. Yes, that’s English. In simpler words it means the “resistance of a fluid (liquid or gas) to a change in shape, or movement of neighbouring portions relative to one another” according to Britannica. Most substances only exist in one state of matter. That’s what makes oobleck different and special. Other non-Newtonian fluids are butter, toothpaste, and cheese. Everyday items! How neat is that?
