REEEEEE I GOT WAY TO ATTACHED TO THIS CHARACTER no I swear I have an entire google docs explaining the backstory and lore and developing the character- bio-- Name: Enoki Name meaning: it's a type of mushroom Pronouns: she/him Gender: Genderfluid Sexuality: Neptunic Personality: very nice kind and considerate, his self-esteem is off the charts, as in its plunging into the defts of the earth :D brief summary of the backstory (hehe sorry if this is boring but I fleshed it out on paper I swear-) so Enoki is a cottage witch who lives in the forest - unbeknownst to the human population. She lives most of her life there after getting abandoned by the nomadic tribe that she used to live with. Sometime after that, when he steps out side he finds a fox. He can sense something is off about it, he's just not quite sure what. Unfortunately, the all-heal OP magical mushrooms he usually uses on the forest creatures are out- and decides its time to go shopping at his local village. This, as you can predict doesn't go well and he ends up getting chased out of the market place, deep into the forest, deeper than he's ever been before, deeper than ANY of the wildlife he knows before has gone. Wandering through the pitch black forest, he looks up to notice a fait green glow. it's almost mystical... his foot makes contact with a root he swears wasn't there a second ago. he trips falling, falling, falling deep than he has ever fallen. He finds himself at the bottom of a pit lying limp. Most of his bones are broken, but there he finds what he was looking for. The mushrooms! With the final bit of strength he posses, he reaches for the mushrooms. Plucking one from the side of the mossy pit, dread seeps into his heart. These were the wrong mushrooms... The mushroom he held dissolves into a fine powder that slowly begins to form into a humanoid shape - humanoid but far from human. Enoki huddles in the corner, cursing his stupidity, frozen in fear. He had heard about this type of spirit. known for making deals with unsettled travelers and locals. But he is trapped in a pit with it, with no foreseeable way out. The deal is made. The terms are simple, Enoki would get out of the pit, fully healed. but, the mushroom spirit would be able to posses Enoki at any point. stuff happens and Enoki ends up burning up a village while being possessed, turns out the fox was actually a fox-person (from a tribe similar to Enoki's,) they've also made a deal with the mushroom person and yada yada that's about it. ack this was so rushed- arT-- 1. traditional peice - right before "thE IncEDEnt" >>:D, (the text says "you promise? I wont be alone anymore?") (a cut scene from the backstory) 2. reference (eesh - I forgot to draw in the cloak D:) 3. character reference (@silverpels_'s art) process- 1 - rough sketch, this is mostly for concept 2 - flip it , or else it might get out of proportion, also turn down the layer opacity 3 - refining sketch 4 - hide the other layer 5 - same thing as before 6 - again, same thing as before 7 - lineart! I like kept it loose for this art piece (for aesthetic ^^,) but it depends on style 8 - hide the layer below 9 - base colors! I used an altered pallet for this 10 - bg from google 11 - base shading, I used a low opacity multiply layer and blended 12 - same thing, except I made it a more purple color this time. 13 - starting with lighting. I used a light red color with overlay 14 - more lighting!
