◼️ Personality ◼️ Basil is your typical Brilliant Pokemon in a lot of ways: bubbly, outgoing, and never still for too long. He fancies himself an engineer, with a workshop in the forest full of all sorts of wood-and-metal contraptions and tools, and can often be found flitting about in search of extra supplies or volunteers to help him test out his latest endeavor. None of his creations have been particularly successful thus far... but every time he fails, he just picks himself back up and tries again! Even when his latest invention literally exploded in his face! Even when he spent three weeks straight working on it only to end up with nothing! Even when he feels completely useless and thinks the world would be better off if he just quit!! I mean - uh - did I say that out loud? ◼️ Backstory ◼️ Basil spent most of his youth kept indoors, only allowed to leave when accompanied by one of his parents and never for too long at a time. It was dangerous out there for a small and vulnerable Caterpie, ESPECIALLY with the rumors going around about a strange disease breaking out in one of the parallel worlds! Luckily, he never really minded. He found ways to occupy himself by reading books and especially by drawing (again, hard to do without hands, but he made it work). Though he started with the usual things a kid might draw, colorful monsters and Pokemon shooting lasers out of their eyes, he eventually got into sketching designs for simple machines and inventions to help out with his day-to-day life. Wouldn't a set of ramps and pulleys make it easier to get around the house? And imagine how cool it'd be to have a device to automatically collect honey from flowers! Of course, he couldn't actually build any of these things as a Caterpie... which is why, once he finally evolved, he immediately got to work pursuing his childhood passions and bringing the concepts to life. Well, trying to, anyway. ◼️ Other ◼️ >His lab was carved out from a cliff by a helpful Gigalith using Explosion. It's... not very well-protected, with the entrance just being some tarps hung over an open cave mouth. >He lost a notch of his wing in a squabble, but he can still fly - he's just a little wobbly.
