That Wednesday, Raza met my group of friends and Dusk outside the dining hall. Professor Brooks signed us in and the eight of us went inside, joining our separate groups. I pointed Raza towards Professor Janet, who was testing different kids to see what their powers could be. Shadow hesitated a little before following me to the werewolf group. “What is it?” I asked, noticing her pause. “I kind of want to see if I have any other powers besides, you know, being a werewolf,” she said quietly. I nodded. “Then go ahead.” She nodded and ran off to follow my little brother. I watched her run off, then joined Professor Ryan’s group of werewolves. That day we discussed how Shades could help us with most everything regarding the wolfish side of us, like Harlow had mentioned last year. My attention was divided, partially on Professor Ryan’s lesson and partially watching Raza and Shadow testing for new abilities. Turns out my little brother was, in fact, a Speeder. Shadow was a Glower, which meant she could control light. Most of us found that ironic, because light was the exact opposite of her name, Shadow. Raza was telling us excitedly about all that he had done with Professor Wilson, while Shadow was talking with Harlow about what she’d done with Professor Stars. All that happened before dinner. After the meal of pizza and apple pie, the six of us that stayed at the school headed to the dorms. We talked for a little bit about the Powers and Talents club, having finished dinner a tiny bit earlier than normal. “Harlow, we learned about Shades and how they can help us,” I said, leaning against my door frame. We were still in the hallway. Harlow nodded. “That’s cool. We focused more on how Shades and Glowers interact.” “We went over the different forms we can take. We can do animals, objects, and we learned how to do other humans, too,” Brazen said excitedly. “Memorias can fade memories, not just remove them. It’s complicated but we’re learning how,” Naomi said quietly. Shadow smiled. “Professor Stars taught us how to manipulate the light, since most of us were beginners. She also told us that we could help Shades as well.” After our conversation, the five of us went inside our respective dorms. There were two more crystals on my desk, one teal and one green. Another note was with them, reading Teal for the goblins, green for the elves. Use them wisely and be careful, not everyone you meet is a friend. I placed them next to the black crystal and the note that went with that one. Another ominous note. Hooray.
