The rest of Spring Break passed quickly. The day the train came to pick us up from our villages was Raza’s birthday. He was nine now. I was the one to wake him up that day. I snuck silently into his room, and lightly spooked him awake. He sat straight up, almost hitting his head on mine. I smirked. “Happy birthday.” He smiled. “Thanks.” We had his favorite breakfast - chocolate chip pancakes and strawberries. After breakfast, I had to board the train. Raza hugged me for a solid three minutes while Mom and Dad bid me farewell. I ran down the path once Raza finally let go, bought a small bag of candy quickly from Sweets Galore, then hopped on the train. My village was the first stop, so I claimed a seat and sat alone. A few stops later, Naomi boarded the train. She made eye contact with me, smiled, and slipped into the seat next to me. “Morning, Wolf.” I smiled back. “Morning.” We participated in a bit of small talk until the twins boarded. The two of them slid into the seat across the aisle from us, leaving a seat for Calli. Brazen entertained a good chunk of the train with jokes until Calli boarded the train. It only took a few more stops after that, but eventually we got to Welsburry School of Magic. The five of us raced each other to the school, unpacked our bags, then met in Brazen and Harlow’s room. We took turns sharing our break, then ate lunch. Then we went outside to the woods, where Professor Gavin, the Movement professor, was leading a game of relay races. The five of us were a team, and we got pretty close to first, even though powers were not allowed. After that, we had dinner, then went to sleep after sharing ghost stories. Tomorrow was another school day. I looked at the calendar, making a mental note of the full moon, then climbed into bed.
