Instructions

Press space, like usual. FAQ----------- Q: Will you add a part on shading? A: I don't think so, but I'm sure there are other tutorials on scratch that can give you hints on how to do that. For my animations, I tend to select the color of the object or creature I'm animating and darken it a little with the color selection tool (the one that isn't the swatches). Then I draw a line where I want the edge of the shadow to be and fill it in with the fill tool. You'll have to do the same for all of the frames, mind you, so don't make it TOO detailed if the task starts to become tedious. Q: How well does it work with other creatures? A: It should work just as well with other creatures like dogs, cats and dragons, but you may want to consult other places as well if you want to animate something like a horse or a bird. While the animation rules I give you would still apply, you may find that certain parts of certain animals can and will behave differently while in motion. Q: How can I animate a Scratch cat? A: Pretty much the same rules apply--you just need to know how to draw a Scratch cat in a way that you're comfortable with. Q: Can I remix this? A: I'd really rather you didn't. I mean, you can have the music because it isn't mine, but you'll have to give credit to "The L-Train" because it isn't yours either. I just don't want anyone stealing my animations or my words. Q: I'm not a very patient person, if you were to specify/round up to the closest amount of time it takes, about how long? A: Well, that depends. Usually my most detailed runcycles can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours (not including breaks of course), and simple line-art runcycles would take about 30 minutes to an hour. Time can vary even more with how experienced you are at animation and/or how comfortable you are with drawing your desired character in much the same way over and over. Unfortunately, infinite patience is key if you want to make animation a more pleasant experience. Q: Could you make a project on how to do bitmap head turns? A: I think your princess may be in another castle. I don't know if I can explain it to anybody in a way that makes sense.
