Chap 2 I kneeled on the floor next to my sister. “Sis?” I whispered. “Are you there?” She gasped and turned to the side, coughing. Her breaths come in uneven shallow breaths. “Oh God.. I feel like I just got trampled on my back.” She looked around, and her eyes met mine. “What happened?” I hugged her tight and whispered, “Never mind that now. I’m just really glad that you are back.” She laughed weakly. “I have no idea what just happened, but I’m really glad to see you right now.” She hugged me back. “Wait.” She pulled away and started crawling away from me. “This can’t be real. This is all a dream.” My eyebrows raised. “Sis, come on. You hit your head hard. Let’s go back home, okay?” My face was full of concern. She shook her head. “I’m not going anywhere with you.” I reached out to take her hand, but she swatted it away. “Don’t touch me.” I felt a pang of hurt hit me straight on my chest. I staggered away. “You don’t believe me? Sis, remember when we used to play together with dolls outside? When you used to have a princess room? And I would always jump on your bed, messing it up? Sis, it’s truly me! I would never lie to you!” I felt tears appear in the corners of my eyes. Her eyes got huge and she got up off the floor, dusting herself off. “If you truly are my sister, then what is my middle name?” She smiled and put her hands on her hips. Classic June. “Really? Did those lessons that mom gave you not do anything? And it’s Hazel. Your name is June Hazel Addison.” Her smile faded and she let her hands drop to her sides. “It really is you.” I smiled. “It hurts me to know you thought otherwise.” She ran over and wrapped me in a bear hug. “I thought I was alone..” she whispered. I hugged her back and fought the tears that were forming in the corners of my eyes again. “I would never leave you alone. Dad did, but he made a really bad mistake. Who knew that we were gonna grow up to be such angels?” I laughed. She laughed as well and sniffled. “Yeah, you’re right. I just don’t understand why Mom left us too” I looked down at my feet. “I know why,” I whispered. “She didn’t want me to tell you and I kept that promise for as long as I can remember. But it’s time I told you.”
