The days went by like a breeze throughout the rest of February and March. By the time we got to March 31, Naomi, Calli, and I met in Naomi’s room to discuss something - April Fool’s day was tomorrow, which also happened to be the twins’s birthday. We had just gotten back from the power club thing. The twins were either asleep or scheming, like us. “It’s their birthday tomorrow, and they’re bound to pull a few pranks. Are we going to retaliate or let them enjoy it?” Naomi asked, sitting on her bed. “I mean, it /is/ their birthday,” Calli pointed out. “Retaliate once,” I said. “As usual?” Naomi said, slightly exasperated. “It /is/ their birthday,” I told her, repeating what Calli had said. Naomi sighed and rolled her eyes. “Fine.” “They’re way better than us at coming up with and executing pranks,” I reminded her. She smiled slightly. “You have a point.” The next day, classes passed smoothly. Brazen and Harlow refrained from being pranksters until after school had officially ended, saving both of them from detention on their birthday. The final school bell rang, and we let the twins take charge of the day. Most of it was spent outside nearby the woods, where Harlow and Brazen raced us - but powers were allowed. I personally did not think it was fair Brazen could turn into a cheetah whenever he wanted to, but Calli’s power was quite useful when Harlow slapped Brazen so hard - don’t ask why - she actually drew blood. Dinner was pretty normal, although Brazen could not resist a prank. He swapped my food out with a plastic toy version. You should have seen my face when I realized what he’d done (Brazen’s words, not mine). After our final meal, Calli dragged Brazen out to the courtyard while Naomi and I gave Harlow a little party in Naomi’s room. After the last-minute celebrations, the five of us retired to our dorms and went to sleep.
