You will also actually LIVE LONGER if you obey them as well! >> Still not convinced that you should obey your parents? well this will convince you: The Israellites actually used to STONE (throw rocks at someone until they died) their children if they talked backed or disobeyed them. That is how seriously God took it -- he was willing to kill someone if they disobeyed! They litterly wouldn't live long if they didn't honor their parents. >> God put your parents in existence to take care of you so you need to respect his choice. There is also a literal sense to this to -- If you are going to argue with your mom about doing your laundry then you will most likely have a big fight with your mom and end up doing your laundry anyway. >> To honor and respect our parents means that we have a high regard for them. We love and appreciate them and are concerned about their happiness and well-being. To love and honor our parents is to love and honor God.
