The next day passed uneventfully, but what I was really looking forward to was Wednesday. That was the day the power club met - and the day we’d introduce Dusk to Welsburry. After school, Brazen and I ran down to the doors, where we’d scheduled to meet Dusk. As planned, they were there, staring up at the castle towers in awe. “Hey, Dusk,” I called, standing in the doorway next to Brazen. That got their attention, and they looked over to us. “It’s even better up close,” they said quietly, walking over to us. Brazen grinned. “Welcome to Welsburry, my friend. Let’s get to the dining hall, we don’t want to miss anything.” Dusk nodded excitedly and followed us through the castle halls. We stopped outside the dining hall, where Professor Brooks was greeting the students as they walked inside. His eyes fell on us and he smiled. “I see you’ve brought your friend, Acwulf.” I nodded. “Dusk, this is Professor Brooks.” They waved shyly. Professor Brooks smiled again. “Nice to meet you, Dusk. I hope you enjoy the club.” The three of us went inside and met up with Naomi, Harlow, and Calli. Those three were introduced to Dusk, and then we broke off into groups. After the club, we said goodbye to Dusk, then the five of us remaining went to dinner. “They did good,” Harlow said, referring to Dusk. “I was watching. They followed Professor Randy’s instructions exactly.” Brazen nodded, grabbing a slice of bread from the platter. He had a plateful of spaghetti, and his sister had chicken parmesan. Naomi had gnocchi and salad, while I had lasagna. “Did you guys know that us shifters can turn other people into things too? That could be useful,” Brazen told us as the dinner entrees disappeared and the dessert appeared. Naomi and I reached for a brownie at the same time, our hands knocking into each other. I smiled, but let Naomi take the brownie. I grabbed a different one as Harlow and Brazen split a slice of cake. Calli grabbed a cookie. After dinner, the five of us went down to our dorms. The full moon was in ten days. I grabbed my mom’s recipe for the Wolf Potion. I trusted the potion more than I did the tricks of us werewolves. I did a quick inventory of what I had and what I needed, then climbed into bed and fell asleep.
