Instructions

I suppose I like answering questions - this isn't the first one of these I've done. The character isn't mine exactly, but my drawing of Constable Delphine Angua von Uberwald, which is an entry in a contest I did a while back. ✁----------------- 1. How are you? OK; meant to be leaving for catechism in less than 10 minutes. 2. What kind of art do you enjoy doing? I do both digital and IRL ('traditional') art, but I don't share the latter on Scratch because I suck at taking decent photos. 3. What is you favourite medium? Scratch Vector Editor for digital (I know, what is this heresy? but I genuinely do like it) and 6B pencils and off-white, textured, heavy paper for traditional. 4. Who is your favourite artist? On Scratch I like @berricake, @DogsandCats15 and @geijutsu / @jeila. I also LOVE @-Tiffany-Aching-'s blockshades (disclaimer: she's my irl best friend). Famous artists I like are Albrecht Durer, Rembrant, and M. C. Escher. 5. Where do you get your inspiration? Well, most of my art is contest entries. I think that more or less sums it up, yes? 6. What do you like to create? I draw people, overwhelmingly female, usually other people's characters but occasionally my own OC, Ashlea. 7. When have you started doing art? Never! I never STARTED doing art. I've always done it. I started taking private lessons (irl art) 1.5 years ago now. 8. Are you planning/doing art for a career? Not exactly. Maybe as a side job, but I doubt my capacity to do it well enough to make a living off it. 9. Do you post art here? I've done almost nothing else here for months lol. 10. Are you interested in art history? Yeah, chiefly Dutch, but I don't pretend to be an expert on it. 11. Do you go to any classes for art? Yup. Private ones. Like, I'm the only student. 12. List 5 of your inspirations. It can be anyone! Dinnae ken what you mean by that, really. 13. Do you ever get burnt out? If so, how do you deal with it? Sometimes when I feel I've reached the limitations of one art style. I swap to another, and when I come back to the first one I've thought of a way to improve it. 14. what supplies do you use to draw? a) 2-year-old school-issue, very slow Lenovo Thinkpad laptop (with stylus) b) Art paper - the heavier and more textured, the better, and I like it off-white c) 4B or 6B pencils with LONG points d) Graphite stick e) Fingers (for smudging) f) Aquarel pencils, which I never actually put water on 15. Do you like painting? Yes but I'm terrible at it. One day I will learn. 16. Do you sell your artwork? How good do you think I am? 17. What do you like to listen to while you draw? The radio (classical station), and my Personal Animating Playlist. 18. What's the hardest thing in art for you? Hands I'm actually learning. I'd say shading hair realistically, and mouths in general. 19. What skill are you learning/want to learn? More realistic human proportions. I always do the heads too big and eyes too small. 20. Do you put filters over your artwork? Good luck doing that on SVE. 21. Does you family support you and your art? IRL, they legit pay for my private lessons. But, funny story, they have no idea I even have a Scratch account. 22. Do you consider yourself as a beginner? Oooh, yeah. I'm a total amateur. People still like my stuff for some reason though. 23. What is a rule you always go by when creating art? Don't have any formal ones, and too many informal ones to fit a word limit. Just see all my art processes to get the general idea. 24. Do you like drawing backgrounds? Yes, but again I suck at them. 25. Can someone commission you? If so, put details! If you really insist - just ask on my profile. I don't know why anyone would ask me to do art for them though, and there's a fair chance I'll ignore your commission if I don't like it. 26. What is the most important part of art? (Color, form, etc.) Getting the general sketch to look good. If your overall frame isn't right, the rest is going to look awful no matter how hard you work on it. 27. Do you like to shade? I appreciate the challenge. Layers, ugh. 28. If you were to give a young artist a piece of advice, what would it be? Go get advice from someone who knows what they're doing, and learn not to take feedback personally. 29. As an artist, where do you see yourself in 2 years? I honestly don't know, given where I was 2 years ago and how far I've come. 30. Last question! Do you genuinely enjoy making art? If I didn't, I wouldn't do anywhere near as much of it.
