In the morning, the first thing I did after my alarm went off was grab a pen and paper to reply to Dusk. Dusk, Don’t worry about being a threat to us. Our school is pretty powerful, we’re a school of magic, remember? I’ll pose the question of you joining the power club to Professor Brooks today. I’ll let you know what he answers. If you ever need help, with your powers or otherwise, my friends and I will support you. And if you ever run into a girl and her father in the woods, they’re my friends, too. Good luck, Dusk. -Wolf I signed my name and sent the letter, watching it fly out the window. I heard people in the hallways, so I got dressed and headed outside. Naomi was already outside, reading a book while sitting on a bench. Harlow and Brazen’s light was on, but neither of them were outside yet. Calli’s room was dark. Naomi looked up at my footsteps. “Morning, Wolf.” I smiled. “Morning.” She scooted over to make space on the bench, and I took the cue and sat down. “What’re you reading?” She showed me the cover, Greek Mythology for High Schoolers. I tilted my head. “What’s high school?” “It’s the last school that kids go to on Earth, before college, if they chose to go. We would be going there if we were on Earth.” I nodded. “Okay. Which myth are you reading?” “The weaving competition between Athena and Arachne.” I nodded again. “Cool.” Calli’s light turned on a few minutes later. Around that time, the twins came out of their room. Brazen came over and read over Naomi’s shoulder, while Harlow looked out the window. Once Calli came out, we went to breakfast. After breakfast, the five of us went our separate ways to entertain ourselves for the day. I went down to the second floor of the East tower, where Professor Brooks’ classroom was. I opened the door after knocking. Professor Brooks was at his desk, going over a few papers. He looked up at my entrance. “Good morning, Acwulf. What’s up?” I closed the door behind me. “So, I have a friend, but they don’t go to the school. They have ice powers, and they’re kinda getting out of control. Is there any way they could go to the power club to learn control?” Professor Brooks was quiet for a bit, thinking about my question. “I think we can make it work. What is their name?” “Dusk. I don’t know their last name.” Professor Brooks nodded. “Well, we’ll welcome Dusk into Professor Randy’s group next meeting. Feel free to let them know.” I smiled and turned to leave. “Thanks, Professor.” He nodded again and went back to his papers. I ran down the stairs, then up them again to my dorm. I grabbed a pen and paper to tell Dusk. Dusk, Professor Brooks says they can make it work, so you can come next Wednesday. The group meets on Wednesdays and Fridays, but if you can’t make it one day, let me know. Hope this helps! -Wolf The letter whooshed out the window and I sat back in my chair, running a hand through my hair, pushing it out of my face. Now that that was done, I wasn’t sure what I’d be doing the rest of the day. A knock came on my door a few seconds later. “Come in,” I called, and Naomi opened the door. She held a book in her hand and a slightly puzzled expression on her face. “What’s up?” I asked, turning in the chair to face her. “So, in here, it says that gods can take the form of or bless different mortals,” she said, holding up the Greek Mythology book. “Okay,” I said, not sure where she was going with this. “So I had a theory, that maybe a god did that to someone we knew, and that’s why our life is so crazy.” I nodded, taking this in. “That would mean accepting the mythology as reality, though.” “Ren had a monster, we all have magic, I think gods can exist too.” I smiled. “Point taken. Let’s, I don’t know, maybe watch people around us to see if we recognize any traits of the gods? That includes ourselves, too.” Naomi nodded. “That sounds like a good idea.” We chatted a bit more, then met up with the twins and Calli at lunch. Afterwards, the five of us joined an intense game of tag down in the courtyard with a group of other students until dinner. After we ate, we went into our dorms. Even though tomorrow was Monday, I still checked if Dusk had replied, which they had. Wolf, Thanks for asking. I’ll be there. Should I wait at the doors or just go in? -Dusk I quickly jotted down a reply. Dusk, Wait at the door, and Brazen or I will come grab you. We’ll show you the way.
