Instructions

I ran out of room in the studio description of my Contest Entries studio, so I will continue records here. Entry 10: "Kiera the Witch" Contest hosted by: @HelloFromJupiter Contest type: DMC Did this place? Don't know yet When I'll find out: 28 February How long the wait will have been: About a month Personal thoughts thereon: It's OK-ish, but too blurred. I still prefer using SVE to Paint 3D, and this was a clear illustration as to why. Prizegiving for this contest? Yes, on my alt account. Entry 11: "Eldur" Contest hosted by: @Gandalf_And_Bilbo Contest type: DMC Did this place? Don't know yet When I'll find out: 1 April How long the wait will have been: From when I found out the deadline, about five weeks. Personal thoughts thereon: Well, well, well! It's brilliant, and I'm glad I've returned to my favourite style, the Sketchy SVE one. This one worked wonderfully, although I'm not so happy about the excess lines. Prizegiving for this contest? Yes, on all three accounts I control. Entry 12: "Delphine Angua von Uberwald" Contest hosted by: @-zimzim- Contest type: DAFCIYS (Draw Any Fictional Character In Your Style) Did this place? Yes. What place? Second. Which DELIGHTED me as I honestly did not expect to place in this contest. When I found out: 7 March How long the wait was: A month or so Personal thoughts thereon: I found a way to deal with excess lines, which I'm delighted by. Also I think this is one of my better art projects so far. It's still not necessarily great, but an improvement. Prizegiving for this contest? Yes, on my alt. Entry 13: "Sophie" Contest hosted by: @Sophie_schoolEMJ Contest type: DMC Did this place? Sort of. What place? Honourable mention. When I found out: 15 March How long the wait was: A little under a month Personal thoughts thereon: I like it, but I wish I had the time and skill to do the background properly. Prizegiving for this contest? No. Entry 14: "Chloe" Contest hosted by: @daintylemons Contest type: DMC Did this place? No. Oh, well. When I found out: I should have spotted the results on 3 May, although I didn't get notified when they came out. For Reasons I'm kinda glad I didn't check until 7 May, though. (I was locked out of my computer then though, long story.) Personal thoughts thereon: Have to say I like where my art processes are going, with my simplified backgrounds and new method for doing proper lineart rather than the really sketchy stuff a better artist than me told me needed improvement. Still not perfect though, as my attempt to do coloured lineart makes lamentably obvious. Prizegiving for this contest? No. Entry 15: "Mixie" Contest hosted by: @Mixie333 Contest type: DMC Did this place? Don't know yet When I'll find out: Hopefully April, deadline 10 March How long the wait will have been: Not too long, I hope. Personal thoughts thereon: You know what? Personally I don't like it. Sure the art style is good, and the fact that I worked out how to do coloured lineart (although I prefer monochrome, really). But the drawing itself? Nah. Prizegiving for this contest? No. Entry 16: "Rhei" Contest hosted by: @FinallyFoundUsername Contest type: DMC Did this place? Yes. What place? Third. Niiice. When I found out: 29 May How long the wait will have been: A while. *sigh* Personal thoughts thereon: First drawing of a male character, and turned out... interestingly. I reused my fancy lighting style from the Eldur DMC, only this time it was over actually half-decent lineart, so it turned out better. I actually really like this one. Prizegiving for this contest? Yes. Alt account, and possibly main as well, can't remember. Entry 17: "Shrimpy" Contest hosted by: @ShrimpWriter Contest type: DMC Did this place? Yes! Yay! What place? Second! Yay! When I found out: Probably never. It's a long story, the gist of which is on the actual project. Edit: 4 April I do indeed find out. How long the wait was: Long, but not infinite as I suspected for a while. Personal thoughts thereon: It's great! I had hours of fun getting the gradiented light and shadow to look right, and it really paid off. The lighting looks softer and more natural than in any of my other drawings. Prizegiving for this contest? No. Entry 18: "Autumn and Cinnamon" Contest hosted by: @--Creamii_Bunz-- Contest type: DMC Did this place? No. Oh, well. The winners definitely did better than I did. When I found out: 6 June Personal thoughts thereon: Love it! Reused gradient shading from the previous entry, but better and with two people. Also has the best thumbnail of any project I've shared so far. Prizegiving for this contest? No. Entry 19: "Hazel, Kate and Lena" Contest hosted by: @byebrowski Contest type: DMC Did this place? No. When I found out: 9 July Personal thoughts thereon: Not bad, although I'm not convinced it was worth all the time I spent on it. Prizegiving for this contest? No.

Description

[continued here as I ran out of space in Instructions] Entry 20: "Stella" Contest hosted by: @lob11679 Contest type: DMC Did this place? Yes. What place? Second. When I found out: 23 July Personal thoughts thereon: I love it, especially the windowpane effect and the eyes and that the hair actually looks half decent for once. I'm harbouring hopes that it will actually place, but it probably won't. Prizegiving for this contest? Yes, on my two 'assorted muck' accounts. Entry 21: "Allie and Slythes" Contest hosted by: @Allie_Gaunt Contest type: DMC Did this place? Yes. What place? Third. When I found out: 29 June, the same day I was in an enormous rush to finish the trailer for my series Personal thoughts thereon: It's nice, and I like the nautical atmosphere, and how I got the warm 'day trip at sea' mood even with a vaguely overcast setting. It's not my best ever work though, and I wish I could have done better for my Scratch bestie's DMC. Prizegiving for this contest? Yep, all three accounts. Entry 22: "Susan Sto Helit" Contest hosted by: @snehacreates Contest type: FAC (Fan Art Contest) Did this place? Don't know yet When I'll find out: June, probably Personal thoughts thereon: I'm reasonably proud of this, especially as Susan has a certain vibe it's hard to get in my style, but I /think/ I pulled it off. However, my esteem for this drawing dropped considerably while I was working on it, because for research purposes I looked at some other Discworld fanart of her. Prizegiving for this contest? No. Entry 23: "Sparkle" Contest hosted by: @superstilwell Contest type: DMC Did this place? Yes. What place? Second, despite my confidently judging five of the other entries to be better than it. When I found out: 16 September Personal thoughts thereon: I think I did a beautiful job on Sparkle herself, but am far from happy with the background. Prizegiving for this contest? No. Entry 24: "Alyelle" Contest hosted by: @berricake Contest type: DTIYS Did this place? Don't know yet When I'll find out: Don't know yet Personal thoughts thereon: It's too polished. It looks more realistic than my usual style but not realistic enough. It has none of the rough edges that would make it more interesting. I'm not happy with it, but it was the best I could do. Prizegiving for this contest? No. Entry 25: "Ivy" Contest hosted by: @pinknarwhal100 Contest type: DMC Did this place? Don't know yet When I'll find out: Sometime in October Personal thoughts thereon: Style much better than the previous one, especially with my new crosshatching technique. The face is a failure, though, and the background took too long with too little to show for it. Prizegiving for this contest? No. Entry 26: "Hallia" Contest hosted by: @NSBerkey Contest type: DMC Did this place? Don't know yet When I'll find out: Don't know yet Personal thoughts thereon: I don't like the background, but everything else about it is fantastic. Especially the hair. Prizegiving for this contest? No. Entry 27: "Butterwaffle" Contest hosted by: @-butterwaffle- Contest type: DMC Did this place? Don't know yet When I'll find out: Don't know yet Personal thoughts thereon: You know what? Probably one of the best things I've drawn so far. Prizegiving for this contest? No. Entry 28: "Blossom" Contest hosted by: @CherryBlossomStudios Contest type: DMC Did this place? No. When I found out: 11 February, at the end of my unplanned, technology-enforced hiatus Personal thoughts thereon: It's nice, although I'm not sold on the facial expression, or that for the first time since Autumn and Cinnamon I have a gradient-only background. The cherry blossoms probably make up for it, but I'm not convinced. Prizegiving for this contest? Yes- AnguaAgain and -Nausicaa-. Entry 29: "Dustin" Contest hosted by: @Clay_Isles Contest type: DTIYS Did this place? Don't know yet When I'll find out: Don't know yet Personal thoughts thereon: Wish I could have done this digitally! I'm nowhere near as good at this style irl when I have no models, and the photo made it look even worse. Oh, well. I shall be sure to give the tech repair shop my feedback. Prizegiving for this contest? No. Entry 30: "Pages" Contest hosted by: @unigirly9 Contest type: Writing Did this place? Don't know yet When I'll find out: Don't know yet Personal thoughts thereon: It's been a while since I did a short story, and the pacing needs a lot of work, but I like it overall. Prizegiving for this contest? Yep. All the accounts.
