Built 1973-'75, updated for the Stadtbahn (light rail) system in 1979-'80, modernised again in 2012-'13 Will be replaced by the new Bombardier (Alstom) HF6 series, if it will finally will be out of the testing phase. They were planned to be in service in 2020!!!!! They're planned to roll out in April, but it's already almost May! I'm really excited about them, because they will first go on the line U75, where they are going to replace the GT8SU and this line goes to my hometown, Neuss! *UPDATE* The HF6 series is finally in service and it's totally EPIC! But I will miss the old GT8SUs because the are so characterful. By the way, Rheinbahn has ordered Avenio trains from Siemens to replace the 80's Duewag B80Ds.
