Seriously, I need to stop. I enter far too many contests. But I still wanted to enter this one. Space to move through slides. 1- Original drawing of the character 2- Very, very rough first sketch. I must have tried about six of them before getting the pose right. 3- Better sketch in red over top 4- Paint 3D (the pathetic wossname I use for art when I don't want to use SVE) doesn't have layers, making the lineart bit extremely difficult, so I skipped it. I just went straight onto base colours. Good old opacity control. 5- Using Watercolour effect to give a bit of depth to my colours, and Oil Brush to give the hatband a slight glitter effect. 6- The spray brush is my favourite though- I use it to soften out texturing added by previous brushes while adding another layer of colour. In this case I darkened the hat and skin and toned down the purples in the dress, while slightly brightening the hair. 7- ...but you can't beat the watercolour brush for tinting hair. I used it to add two depths of shadow, and lifted the highlights with orange. I also darkened the bodice further. 8- Greying out the hat, and deepening the skin still further. I reckon it looks OK now, but it probably will change later. Also added lacy bits and made a few more tone adjustments to the clothes. 9- Mostly a lighting adjustment, where I went over the entire canvas with transparent grey-purple. 9- Added pale blue highlights. 10- Softened out highlights using first standard and then spray brushes. Also noticed the hatband had more or less vanished so I put it back in. 11- Added midnight purple shadows on entire drawing. 12- Made yet more lighting changes, and I think I might finally be done.
