Google Chrome is a freeware web browser developed by Google. It was first released in September 2008, for Microsoft Windows, and was later ported to Linux, macOS, iOS and Android. Google Chrome is also the main component of Chrome OS, where it serves as a platform for running web apps. Chrome is the fast and secure way to access the Internet. Enterprises and academic organizations can experience Chrome in two ways: Get started with Chrome for your business The Chrome browser for business is just like the version for consumers but supports centralized deployment and configuration. Google provides a Microsoft installer (MSI installer) file for deploying the Chrome browser for business in Windows environments. Get started with Chrome devices for business and education Chrome devices for business and education are fast, secure, and cost-effective computers that run Chrome as an operating system. The devices are like the Chrome devices individual consumers purchase, except administrators can remotely manage Chrome devices for business and education by setting policies in the Google Admin console. To purchase Chrome licenses, contact the Chrome or Google for Education team. You can also purchase Chrome Enterprise licenses online. This help center, Chrome for business and education, is for administrators in enterprise or academic organizations. It only contains information about managing Chrome; it does not contain general information about the Chrome browser or Chrome devices. Browser users should see the Chrome help center and Chromebook users should see the Chromebook help center.
