Beneath the danger of Sonar Minefield lies some math. The pitch of the Sonar warning tone varies with the distance between the walker and the mine. In this project one gets to watch the function drawn on the graph, then gets to manipulate the distance using a Slider. The warning tone is triggered only if the distance is less than 90, and it ceases at contact with the mine. So by moving the slider one can hear the pitch changes, and also test the limits of the Sonar's range. There is a readout for "how close" the walker is to the mine itself, so the pitch will rise in accord with that. The SCRIPTS show the math in action. ===Special thanks go to Paddle2See who calculated the formula for the pitches to be used in Sonar Minefield. And to my old friend RS who helped interpret the Y-intercept form of the math. === Larry828 8/2/09
