Shiva - A strange car, only made for one generation, designed in Italy, built in Thailand, and imported under license to North America. Too small to be considered a compact, but too big to be considered a subcompact. Never sold exceptionally well, but it sold enough to stay in the market for more than half a decade. It had a ton of body styles, and only a few of which were considered successful. Models: G - Base model with very few features. Nothing to really note other than the plastic cladding on pre-facelift models and the lack of air conditioning and a radio. GL - Slightly upgraded model with hubcaps, a radio, reclining seats, and semi-painted bumpers. GLV - Short for "GL Value", an upgraded GL model with alloy wheels, air conditioning, better transmissions, nicer interior materials, a passengers side mirror, a spoiler, and fully painted bumpers and trim. Best seller by far due to its great value in comparison to the lower trims. GLI - Sporty model with a 2.0 engine, special alloy wheels, mid-level spoiler on hatchback models, and red trim. GLS - Supposed luxury model with chrome trim and special alloy wheels. Still had the same drivetrain as the GLI, however, so they have become popular among street racers as "sleeper" alternatives to the GLI. Special models GLV Sapphic - Special edition made for 1989 based on the GLV sedan, only came in white with specialized graphics. LaVista - Special edition for 1990 and 1991 based on the GLI convertible, came in a special two-tone paint scheme with vinyl interior, unique rims, and an automatic transmission. A total of 1372 LaVistas were produced and they were only available through special order. RedTail - Special edition for 1992 based on the GLV sedan with a unique paint scheme. Limited run of 500 were made. Blitz - Special edition for 1994 based on the GLV hatch, however it was equipped with the 2.0L engine. Special colour, graphics, and wheels were fitted and a limited run of 621 units were made. NJC - Special edition for 1994 based on the GLI wagon. Only available with a manual transmission, it featured special wheels and controversial custom graphics. A limited run of 750 were made and they are now highly sought after.
