I think this is the fastest I've ever made a ref lol I already had his general design from my Lone Digger MAP part, but I didn't know his full design or colors So that was chaotic Bio: Name: Vesper Nickname: Kid (From Warden lol) Rough backstory: This guy was born into a completely normal family of alchemists. Alchemists are the medics of this world, though their main difference from druids is that they also focus on offensive potions. This is completely irrelevant. He loved exploring. He would spend hours in the safe garden, exploring every nook and cranny. But at one point, he strayed past the walls and into the not-so-safe woods. Cue a lot of running from monsters. Expectedly, he got really, really lost Turns out, being from an alchemist family wasn't irrelevant. He was able to identify the flora to eat, to avoid, and that would eat him. But one thing he clearly didn't learn is that following strange glowing butterflies is usually a really bad idea. Unless you don't mind suddenly having a familiar that will not go away, ever, and he will be incredibly weakened should the immensely curious butterfly were to meet an unfortunate end. Oops. This butterfly already "belongs" to Warden, who has been experimenting with creating familiars because he was lonely. (...how he made them I have no idea) But none bonded with him because he doesn't have a mortal soul. The butterfly leads the kid to the ruin of some castle-like structure. Very few things grow around here, and it's impossible to survive here if you don't know what you're doing The kid has very little idea of what he is doing. So he's starving and thirsty and hasn't slept well for days on account of the monsters roaming the wilderness. Then he meets Warden while trying to steal a fruit. A powerful immortal that has a reputation for murdering any mortals that finds in his home He's territorial like that What convinces him to adopt this kid (even though he can absolutely just send him home) is the fact that he has bonded with one of the Warden's familiars, and Warden was willing to try to befriend a mortal to stop being so incredibly lonely Problem is, said mortal really just wants to go home, so he keeps trying to leave. And failing. Horribly. So horribly that Warden can't really tell if he's trying to leave or just being stupid Finally the kid decides to just, like, ask if he can go home. Warden was worrying that would happen, and tried to imprison him in there. But then a great catastrophe happened somewhere else in the world. Something that made the very fabric of reality shiver. It caused the beasts in the surrounding area to attack the castle. Warden wanted to investigate what happened. He also knew that a different immortal may come while he was weak and surrounded by enemies and eliminate some competition. Because though they may not be able to die by conventional means, they can be imprisoned or unmade. So, finally, he let the kid go home. On one condition. He could never tell anyone about what truly happened, or the Warden will do what he would have normally done from the beginning Immortals are not forces to mess with ----- Wait that's dark if you think about it Is Warden a bit selfish? Yes. Is he better than most other immortals? Absolutely The reason the kid couldn't really do anything is because he's literally a 10-year old child against a 100 something year old immortal who can warp reality The kid didn't completely hate being there, he kind of liked Warden, and he would have visited if he was just allowed to go home. But, now that I think about it, Warden has not had a healthy friendship. Ever. Immortals are jerks
The song is Want You Gone, from the game Portal I noticed the accidental reference I'm rolling with it. Idk maybe he's a robot wait robots don't exist in this universe ... I like to imagine this song is Warden being incredibly done with this child's antics The whole thing of living forever vs being mortal also (mostly) works
