Click on the buttons to navigate the project! After you watch the meme and when looking at the art there will be a back button in the bottom right corner. Press the space bar and/or arrow keys to cycle through the art! (Also please excuse the misspell of lantern) Ohhhhh this design is so cute! I have quite a few projects, but when I saw this design, I knew that he had to become one of those projects. If I do win this design he will be a main character in the comic that I am working on currently (The one that will include Fynn). Also the meme that I put in there is in fact a full original. Anyways I'm just going to jump right on into the bio and backstory! Name | Cyrus (According to google: Cyrus – Persian origin and means ‘splendid sunset, glooming twilight’. which was literally just too perfect) Gender | Male Age | 15 (Creatures age like humans in this world) Species | He's part rabbit/cat hybrid but he doesn't know what his father was, something with wings though. (Odd hybrid creatures are pretty normal in this world too) Personality | He's super sweet and kinda shy, but he's also extremely smart and loves to read. He's the kinda person who would hug you and then nervously correct your grammar. Before we get to backstory here's a quick bio for Cyrus's Mom! Who's a big part of his life. Name | Velvet (She's Cyrus's mom) Gender | Female Age | 41 Species | Rabbit/Cat Hybrid Personality | Kind, gentle and loving. Job | She works as an astronomer by studying the stars at night from the telescope that she installed on top of their old lighthouse home and then sends reports on what she's learned to her boss through the mail. Okay now for Cyrus's backstory! Cyrus has always lived in his mother's old lighthouse, the light on top no longer works since the lighthouse itself isn't actually in use anymore, but he loves staying up late with his mom and climbing up to the top of the lighthouse stairs to study the stars. His life is pretty routine for the most part, he's homeschooled but he loves to learn so every week his mother orders new books through the mail for the lighthouse basement library which was originally just a storage cellar until Velvet fixed it up so she could keep her notes and books on the stars, well, that is until Cyrus asked for so many books that she had to turn it into a library (Cyrus insists on sleeping in the library even though Velvet says that she could give him an actual bedroom, but Cyrus has too much fun flying around all of the bookshelves). His mom grows most of their food in the garden outside next to the lighthouse. And he never really needs to leave the house for anything, since their house is kinda isolated from the rest of the world. After all the small town of Ethar (eeth-are) where they live doesn't exactly have a huge population. However Cyrus is getting older, and Velvet knows that she can't just keep Cyrus inside their lighthouse home forever. So one evening, when Velvet and Cyrus are having some herb soup for dinner (with herbs grown from Velvet's garden), Velvet tells Cyrus that he will be going to a public school in a few weeks. At least to see how things go, and she hoped that Cyrus would even maybe make some friends. Cyrus was terrified! He didn't want to leave! And what about his library! Who else would read all those lovely books! Fast forward a few weeks, and Cyrus is on a bus headed to a school in Kazul, a town that neighbors the largest city known for a long ways, Silvai. His luggage consists of only his top ten favorite books (he spent at least 3 days trying to choose which ones he wanted), a spare scarf and glasses, some mittens, some stuff like his toothbrush, a phone, some money, and his father's lantern. Cyrus never new his father, and Velvet doesn't really like to talk about him, once though when they were up on top of the lighthouse looking at the stars she told him somewhat sadly "You're father was very brave, maybe even a little bit too brave... He would be so proud of you." Another day, on the morning of his 7th birthday, Velvet gave him a lantern, that apparently belonged to his father. Cyrus, although never knowing his father, loved his lantern. He never put fire in it, only fireflies, he liked the way they moved around. Cyrus was also very afraid of the dark, so he took the lantern with him wherever he went. Even on the bus now, he couldn't imagine being without his lantern. At the school at Kazul, he had a quite a big of trouble figuring out school schedules, and hasn't made any friends yet. The other kids mostly just look at him and whisper. He also regularly volunteers at the local library, the only place where he feels at home. After a few weeks of adjusting, one night he sits on his bed, taking a look at the books scattered around the room. He picks up the lantern and watches the fireflies glow. As he's turning it over in his paws, one of his paws hits something, the bump in the metal base of the lantern. (continues in credits)
THANK YOU @Aloeheart6 FOR CURATING!!! <3 <3 Art: - @tildyk Design: - @lightdragonflowers Coding: - @tildyk Songs: - Small - Chloe Moriondo - Just a Little Crush - Jeffrey Lenh - Your Text - Sundial - Watermark - Sleeping at Last - Rocketships - Cavetown - Fireflies - Owl City (backstory continuation) He pushed rather hard on it by accident (he knew it was there and always tried to be careful to avoid pushing on it, in case it broke), and then there was a sudden popping noise. Cyrus was worried that he had broken the lantern! He examined the base but to his surprise, a metal plate had come of the base, revealing... a compass! He held the lantern upside-down (which thankfully wasn't damaged) to get a good look at it. After some more studying he realized that this was either a very broken compass, or it was pointing somewhere other than north! Now Cyrus had a new mission, to find out what his father's lantern has been hiding all these years. He would do this all of course, once he finished his book on knot tying. That was a lot of writing! And that also must've been a lot of reading! Thanks so much if you read it all! And Happy Holidays! If you see this and you comment, but a ;) in it, and it can be our little secret.
