Instructions

Click and drag anywhere to aim the boat. Click the check mark to go. Try to land in the most green place you can reach.

Description

The small lines show the speed of the current. The arrow shows the boat's ideal speed in still water. The current is always faster than the boat. The ghost boat shows the best way. The best direction is down and right, making an angle with the shore whose cosine is the boat's speed divided by the current's speed. This allows the boat to move downriver by the smallest possible distance, (river width) × √((current speed ÷ boat speed)² − 1)
