Instructions

This puzzle is a resource to support the Code Copybook for 1st and 2nd pupils. It introduces children to Computational Thinking. In particular it focuses on abstraction of facts and non-facts in logical reasoning. The children use a process of elimination using TRUE and FALSE marks to work out the name and colour of each cat. E.g. A cat with a bell implies that it doesn’t wear a bow tie. If only one cat eats fish, then logically two cats don’t eat fish. The children have enough information to name the cats and answer the question, "Which colour is each cat?". There are 3 Cats and clues for abstract reasoning to work out which cat is which. 1. Nibbles has a bell. She's not white. 2. Only Tabby eats fish. The others only eat cat food. 3. Rocco wears a bow tie. Click the online question marks once or twice to give a YES or a NO to each statement. Click the name sprite under each cat to decide each cat's name. Write out: Which colour is each cat?

Description

Although all the scripts are short, this is an assessment tool for Computational Thinking and is not intended to support coding at this early age. See page 27 of the Code Copybook for 1st and 2nd pupils. See also the Dinner Time logic puzzle at https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/624091578
