Instructions

read below On January 15, 1953, train #173, The Federal Express pulled by Pennsylvania Railroad GG1 #4876 was on it's way to Washington D.C. When the train was approaching the Union Station, the engineer tried to slow down the train to 70-60 miles an hour but the brakes in the passenger cars failed to work properly. The train roared onto track 16 and slammed through the buffer as it blasted through the terminal with #4876 falling into the baggage room. Despite the looks of the outcome, no one was killed but 43 people were injured. Ten months later, #4876 was repaired and was used in regular service until finally being retired in 1983. As of today #4876 is seen on display, but is undergoing restoration due to falling victim to the elements and vandals.
