He was Birches' best friend, and very popular with Bramble's friend group. Birch, upon seeing his brother as a ghost (he is actually a starpack wolf being allowed to visit his family after death, as most animals are.), is overcome with grief and remembers his brother's promise to be back for the Winter Solstice. He runs off, were later Rya comes to check on him/meet him. Birch falls in love with her, and has an internal conversation.
