Description

This is it. The oldest version of Super Mike World I have backed-up, dated ‎24th ‎April ‎2019. Nothing about this project resembles Mike World at all, other than the fact I based the game of this engine. If you're wondering what the speech bubble means, that's how steep the last touched slope was, because Super Mike World has slope detection. FUN FACT: I am absolutely terrible at making platformer engines and created this one accidently. Let me explain... So back in early 2019, I was working on a project called "The FreezyFire Cave". It was this 2D top-down exploration game inspired by games like Zelda and Pikmin, however the game had a lot of flaws and I didn't have many ideas for it, so I scrapped it. However, this engine and Super Mike World would of never existed if I didn't create The FreezyFire Cave. This is because I made a collision system in that game where if you walked upwards into an diagonal wall, you'd walk along it instead of just getting stuck to it. Now, this game was not a platformer, it was a top-down game, however I had the idea of re-working the collision system slightly to become a platform engine and it actually worked! If I remember correctly all I had to do was remove a bit of code, make the player constantly fall and add a jump input script. And that's how I made a platform engine with the mindset of making a top-down game. Since this is pretty much a platform engine showcase, you could turn it into something if you want, although it's lacking a lot and *might* have some bugs, but I'm not entirely sure. Just remember to give credit if you do please! More early Mike builds: June build: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/602248698/ May build: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/602246743/
