Name: Newtstar (formerly Newtshade) Gender: male (he/him) Rank: Leader Clan: ThunderClan Appearance: cream with a white belly and greenish-yellow eyes (ignore the flower) Age: about 38 moons Design number: 10 Personality: quiet, caring Backstory: Newtkit was born with his sister Salamanderkit in ThunderClan to Oakblaze and Honeyleaf. Shortly before the kits were to be apprenticed, Salamanderkit became very sick and the medicine cat, Brightberry, sent Newtkit to find a certain herb to save her. It was a long and tiring journey but Newtkit was successful and so Salamanderkit got better and soon they became apprentices together. There was one cat that didn't like Newtpaw, and that was Hawkpaw, an older apprentice who was a bit of a bully. Creekstar soon gave Hawkpaw his warrior name, Hawkstorm, but it wasn't long before Newtpaw became a warrior too. (continued in notes and credits)
Hawkstorm continued to bully Newtshade and started making plans to be deputy and perhaps leader. Meanwhile, Newtshade fell in love with Mistsong, a young she-cat who he had trained with. Some moons later (enough for Newtshade to train an apprentice) Stonefall, who was growing old, retired from his position as deputy and Creekstar made Newtshade the new deputy. This made Hawkstorm very jealous. He began to think of ways to try to make Newtshade look bad. One day, he arranged for Newtshade to meet with Dappleleaf, a well-respected warrior who had mentored Salamanderbreeze (Newtshade's sister, remember?) After hiding his scent, Hawkstorm jumped out of his hiding place and killed Dappleleaf. Newtshade's scent would be all over the scene. He even planted some of Newtshade's fur between Dappleleaf's claws. When the rest of ThunderClan found out about the murd3r, they thought Newtshade had done it because all the evidence was against him. Newtshade tried to tell them he was innocent, but no one believed him except Mistsong and Brightberry (who StarClan had told about the real murd3rer.) Newtshade was then exiled from ThunderClan and became a loner. Hawkstorm was made deputy in his place. And Dappleleaf was mourned for by her clanmates. After a period of wandering, he met another loner named Frank, an older longhair ginger tom. Newtshade joined Frank in his abandoned barn and got to know him. Frank was very smart (he could even speak dog) and had traveled a lot when he was younger so he told Newtshade about his adventures and taught him some nice lessons. Newtshade told Frank about his life in ThunderClan and that he had been framed for Dappleleaf's murd3r. Frank was wise enough to know that Newtshade would never do such a thing. Frank became like a second father to Newtshade and Newtshade lived with him for a year. Near the end of that time, Frank began suggesting that Newtshade return to ThunderClan and prove his innocence. Frank would go with Newtshade for moral support. But before Newtshade and Frank could travel back to ThunderClan, Frank grew very ill. Newtshade remembered how he had gotten a herb to help Salamanderkit, but Frank was old and he soon got worse. He became too weak to leave his bed of hay. It was now clear that Frank was dying. He urged Newtshade to go back to ThunderClan alone, but Newtshade didn't want to leave him. Then Frank said, "Farewell, my son," and took his last breath. Newtshade sat vigil for some time then gave Frank's body a final lick and slipped out of the barn. It was leaf-bare, and Newtshade didn't get very far before an icy wind blew and snow began to fall. He was weakened from hunger and the cold and was near collapsing when he met a group of rouges. A rouge named Jacob gave Newtshade a mouse and the rouges led him to a hollow on the edge of the WindClan territory where they were spending the winter. So for the next moon or two, Newtshade hunted with the rouges and made friends with them, especially Jacob. When it got close to newleaf, Newtshade decided to return to ThunderClan. Escorted there by a WindClan patrol (ThunderClan and WindClan were on good terms,) he soon learned that Hawkstar had taken over ThunderClan and was causing it to decline. He met with Brightberry, who knew all along that Newtshade never killed Dappleleaf, who would try to convince the clan that he was innocent and that he was the true leader of ThunderClan. So Brightberry told the clan that StarClan had chosen Newtshade to be leader and that Hawkstar was the one who really killed Dappleleaf. Newtshade came face-to-face with his old nemesis Hawkstar and took one of his lives. Then the clan banished Hawkstar and his supporters. Newtshade tried to catch up on how his family and old friends were doing. Oakblaze had died from greencough, and Honeyleaf had joined the elders, but Salamanderbreeze was doing well. His old girlfriend Mistsong had taken another mate and now had a son named Boulderstep, a fit young warrior. Boulderstep's father neglected him, but Newtshade got to know Boulderstep and hoped to become friends with him. But first, he had to go to the Moonpool so that StarClan could give him the leadership of ThunderClan. Meanwhile, Hawkstar lost his last life when Jacob and the rouges attacked him. He ended up in the Dark Forest. So Newtshade and Brightberry traveled to the Moonpool for him to get his nine lives. He received lives from Creekstar, Dappleleaf, Oakblaze, Stonefall, and some others, even Frank (who StarClan had invited for Newtshade's ceremony.) So he returned to ThunderClan as Newtstar and made Salamanderbreeze deputy. Whenever ThunderClan was troubled by a dog, Newtstar would chase it away by speaking its language (which Frank had taught him.) He had a long, prosperous leadership. The end.
