“Who’s that?” he asks. “Those are Beatrice and Diana. They’re popular, but they don’t fit the stuck-up stereotype” Tim gazes upon Beatrice, taking in every detail. He would never admit it, but he found her very beautiful. “Good luck being able to talk to them. Everyone always surrounds them” John points out. He notices Toxin walking over to Beatrice. “‘Sup B?” he greets. “I see no one is listening to you anymore” Beatrice says. “Who gave them their will back?” “It’s the new guy. Someone made a video this morning and people are viewing it a lot” Diana says, showing the video. People start to surround Tim and John. Tim sighs and finishes his food, getting up to throw his trash away. The surrounding students take out their phones and start recording moments before Tim runs at the wall with his trash in hand. He backflips off the wall and over the students, throwing his trash mid-flip. The trash makes it into the trash can and Tim lands gracefully on his feet, the students behind him cheering. “I hate crowds” he says. The bell rings. The crowd dissipates and John walks over. “That was amazing!” “I know. I’m somehow popular on day one” Tim says. He feels a tap on his shoulder and turns around. It was Diana. “Hi! I just wanted to let you know that… a certain someone thinks you’re interesting when it comes to skills” she says, looking back at Beatrice and Toxin. Beatrice looks away, embarrassed. Toxin storms off again. Tim smiles. “Thanks” he says, walking with John to class. When they arrived, girls and boys were having a sing-off against each other. The boys were losing and, naturally, Toxin was “singing”. “Need help?” he asks, walking over. Toxin scoffs. “Not from you, newbies” “Toxin, we’re losing seventeen to two, and you didn’t earn either of those points” Tim and John smile. The teacher sighs. “Toxin, you should sit out. You’ve been going for a while” Toxin huffs and sits down, Tim and John joining the boys. Beatrice and Diana walk in a few moments later and join the girls. “Alright, time to wipe the slate clean and go to overtime. Girls go first” the teacher says, removing all points. Beatrice and Diana sing a female cover of “Greatest Hits” by Parmalee. Tim listens, mesmerized by the beauty of Beatrice's angelic voice. He silently claims to have never heard anything more beautiful… other than “dinner’s ready” of course. Before he knew it, the song was over. He whispers his idea to John, who nods in agreement. They sing “Rage Inside” by Rockit Gaming. He closes his eyes, glad he can do something he loves. Eventually, his song was over too. The teacher calls it a tie. Both teams congratulated each other and sat down to start working. The teacher passes out tests and everyone starts working. To Tim, this was preschool level work, but everyone else seemed to be having trouble. He turns his work in and notices Beatrice watching him. He starts to feel strange and looks away. … “Hey Tim, how was school?” Wallace asks when Tim walks in. “Let’s just say your bet held true” he replies, sitting on the couch. For some reason, Beatrice was the only thing on his mind.
